Earlier today, I saw the screening of "The Secrets of Jonathan Sperry"; an inspirational Christian film based on a true story that stars Gavin MacLeod of "The Love Boat" and Robert Guillaume of "Benson" as well as a cast of great young actors. The film was written, produced and directed by Rich Christiano.

On the set of "Air Force Elite"

I had the opportunity this month to work once again with my old friend Producer/Director Paul Emami on the set of "Air Force Elite" produced by Marker Entertainment. The shoot was at the Blue Cloud Movie Ranch in Saugus. The ex-military guys playing the American soldiers said it was easy because 1) they weren't fully loaded down with their heavy equipment packs, 2) it was "only 100 degrees" compared to the even hotter temperatures they were used to fighting in and, 3) even though gun fire was audible in the scenes, they weren't actually getting shot at....... The scenes recreated a battle that took place in Afghanistan.

Life's Healing Choices Series w/ Rick Warren

Nashville Trip

Here are some photos taken the last few days on the trip to Nashville and surrounding areas with my daughter including: the wedding venue at the giant Opryland Hotel, Jonathan Singleton rockin' the house Friday night at the Grand Ole Opry, Mammoth Caves in Kentucky, Broadway St. where the stars are discovered in Nashville, and the full size replica of the Greek Parthenon. Nashville is known as the "Athens of the South".

Houston Trip

I was recently in Houston and attended a few baseball games, the Galveston coast, Lakewood Church etc. with my son. Shortly after we got back, he ventured off to India for two weeks with his P.E.A.C.E plan group from Saddleback Church. My daughter and I will be in Nashville next week. Make-A-Wish Cruise/American Legion Hall Breakfast

I had the opportunity on Saturday morning to photograph the July 4th Make-A-Wish Foundation (www.wish.org) cruise aboard The Eternity yacht which is given each year by Electra Cruises in Newport Beach. It was a great time with all the kids, their families, the O.C. Sherriff & Fire Dept. officers etc. We also stopped at the American Legion Hall for a huge pancake breakfast with the club members, some of our great American soldiers, presentation by the O.C. Sheriff and a lively entertainment show before heading back out into the harbor. I didn't have time yet to edit/retouch these images. But, I wanted to post them quickly so everyone could enjoy seeing them. I encourage you to check out the Make-A-Wish Foundation online too.

Start of the Newport Ensenada Boat Race

Had a great time shooting the start of the Newport Ensenada Boat Race on Friday morning just off the starting line at the Balboa Pier. Aboard the Spirit of Newport, I was able to experience it up close. Almost 300 boats were entered in the race.

Summer seemed to be just around the bend last Sunday night as Wendy and Tyson shared their wedding vows to each other in Newport Harbor. We've had fantastic luck with the weather this year. I can recall several times when it rained on one day only to be bright and sunny as the wedding day arrived. It looks like Wendy and Tyson will be happy together come rain or shine...

Patricia and Daniel said their vows in March aboard the circa 1925 yacht The Electra which today can handle weddings of up to approx. 100 people. Even though it was a bit chilly in the early evening, the wedding party met my request to get some group shots out on the bow. I am pleased to report we didn't lose anyone overboard....:-)

It's great being out on the water and seeing the sites in the background rolling by minute by minute in front of your eyes. Amanda and Mathew's First Dance Surprise

So, there they were; Amanda and Mathew having a romantic first dance when all of the sudden- the music abruptly stops and changes into a boomin' funky dance mix. I was tipped off in advance of course. But, the crowd was in a state of shock for a second or two until they realized it was all rehearsed. Then, a loud roar of laughter and applause as the couple strutted their stuff on the dance floor on Valentine's night. They really pulled it off well. Practice did indeed make perfect!

Mindy and Jordan's Wedding at Old World Village

Mindy and Jordan were married at Old World Church in Huntington Beach this past weekend where I have been referred since 1983. I had an opportunity to get this group photo while I was standing on the steps of the church right after the ceremony concluded and everyone had just entered the cobblestone street where visitors make their way around the European style village. We then made our way downstairs to the Banquet Hall for the reception!

A few words about George "Flash" Fenton

I ran into my mentor tonight; the great George "Flash" Fenton of Fenton Photography. I worked for George's studio in Anaheim in the early 80s and learned a million things from him about photography and life too. He was the official photographer for the California Angels back in the early 70s, photographed thousands of weddings including Ronald Reagan son's wedding, portraits of numerous celebrities, multiple commercial assignments etc. He's been a photographic legend in Orange County for over 45 years. It was fantastic seeing him again. As far as I'm concerned, George will always be "the man"....

"Step Into Africa" with World Vision

Last night, I put on my other hat as a World Vision Child Ambassador at the "Step Into Africa" exhibit held at Trinity United Presbyterian Church in Santa Ana. Participants were able to experience the walk of a child living in an AIDS-infected country in Africa. Many of these kids are orphans who have lost both parents to AIDS. This interactive exhibit featured a stirring audio tour combined with captivating visual imagery. It became possible to gain a completely new perspective on the greatest humanitarian crisis of our time. The photo above shows the prayer wall at the exhibit. I'm pleased to report that since it started a few days ago, over 270 children have been sponsored by people just like you with their financial support of $35 a month. The girls and their instructors are never short on imagination when it comes to designing their new outfits. The energy the kids have combined with the rainbow of colors make for fun photographs to give to friends and family members.

Two super nice customers, Jennifer and Jerry were married on January 31st. We started the wedding day photo coverage at the Huntington Beach Pier (she didn't mind him seeing her before the wedding). Mother Nature was good to us that day. Photographing their wedding was truly a great experience.

In 2004, I had the opportunity to go to New York to take some photographs at the American Bankers Association annual convention at the New York Marriott Hotel in Times Square. NBC-TV anchorman Tom Brokaw gave one of the keynote speeches as well as the Chairman of the Federal Reserve at the time, Alan Greenspan. My longtime friend Mark (he lives in Iowa) and I journeyed out one day to look around the city. The photo seen here was taken on Liberty Island in New York Harbor. If you have never been to New York, definitely make plans to go see the Statue of Liberty. It's incredible to behold in person. Another site we visited was the World Trade Center "ground zero" site in Manhattan; another site I'll never forget. The last time I had been there was in 1984 when I took some photos while standing on the top floor of the south tower.

One of the most interesting weddings I photographed in 2008 was Heinrich and Ginny's traditional German wedding at The Phoenix Club in Anaheim.
